Following Sebastian Delan & Les Nouveaux Caractères’ *The Surprise of Love* (GCD922701) and Hervé Niquet & Concert Spirituel’s *The Festival of Imen and Amour* (GCD921629), Glossa’s project featuring the opera-ballets of Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764) continues with the complete recording of the opera-ballet *The Festival of the Muse Polymnia* (Ballet Héroïque/ “The Festival of Polymnia,” the Muse of Poetry, is now available! Hungary’s early music prodigy, György Vaszesz, along with the Orfeo Orchestra—a period orchestra representing Eastern Europe and Hungary—and the Purcell Choir make their Glossa debut! Appointed court composer to Louis XV, he composed and premiered works such as *The Princess of Navarre*, *Plate*, *The Temple of Glory*, and *The Festival of Lamir*—a year that truly deserves to be called Rameau’s “annus mirabilis” (year of wonders). Featuring top-tier early music vocalists such as Véronique Jans and Matthias Vidal as soloists, this Rameau opera-ballet is presented by the Vachez & Orfeo Orchestra and the Purcell Choir. “The Festival of the Muse Polymnia,” composed to celebrate the French army’s victory at the Battle of Fontenoy in 1745, is brought to life in splendid fashion by elite musicians from Hungary in Eastern Europe.
