Roberta Invernizzi, a passionate diva of the Italian classical music world, sings the "Lamentations" by Alessandro della Chiaia (c.1605-c.1670), music for the liturgy of Holy Week, which was born in Siena in the 17th century during the Baroque period! Della Chiaia was an aristocrat, arch-lute player, and composer in Siena at the time, and other than his three collections of music, including the "Lamentations," there is much that is shrouded in mystery. I simply marveled at Invernizzi's dramatic and emotionally charged presence singing "Lamentations" for soprano solo voice by Chiaia, which requires a wide range, a high level of technique, and outstanding expressiveness. With Invernizzi, the ideal inheritor, the "Lamentations" of 17th-century Siena resound in the 21st century. Tokyo M-Plus
