Antonio Florio and I. Turquini (formerly the Cappella della Pietà de’ Turquini), explorers of the little-known Baroque music of Naples, Italy. The latest discovery in the study of Neapolitan Baroque music is Gaetano Veneziano’s (1665–1716) oratorio *The Holy Trinity*! Gaetano Veneziano was a student of Francesco Provenzale, a leading composer and renowned teacher in late 16th-century Naples, and was himself an accomplished composer and music teacher. Like his contemporary Alessandro Scarlatti, Veneziano was commissioned to compose a religious musical drama for the Holy Trinity; the “oratorio” he completed in 1693 is a little-known masterpiece of religious music in Naples on the cusp of the 18th century. Gaetano Veneziano (1665–1716) devoted himself to the development of Neapolitan Baroque music, serving as court Kapellmeister—succeeding Alessandro Scarlatti—in the Kingdom of Naples under Spanish rule. The Kingdom of Naples was tossed about during an era of Spanish and Austrian rule.
