The latest release in the "Glossa SCB Series," a collaboration between Glossa and the Schola Cantorum Basel (SCB), Switzerland's premier school of ancient music education and research. Vendado es Amor, no es ciego" by José de Nebula (1702-1768), one of the pioneers of Spanish stage music, including the zarzuela (Spanish lyric opera), is a work by the leading Spanish playwright of the first half of the 18th century, Written by José de Canizares, this zarzuela in two acts tells the love story of Venus, Diana, and Eumene over the handsome Anchises. This important work by Nebula features a colorful orchestra, including fandangos, and an expressive and engaging aria and chorus that ranges from comical characters to passionate appeals. Alberto Miguelez Louco is a tenor singer of great promise, born in Spain in 1994.While studying at the Schola Cantorum Basel (Basel Conservatory), he founded the Baroque Orchestra "Los Elementos" in 2018 and has been re-discovering the forgotten Spanish Baroque, including the modern premiere on historical instruments of this Nebula's "My beloved is blind but not blind".
