One of Glossa's masterpieces, "Victoria: The Sacraments of Holy Week" by La Colombina and Schola Antiqua (former item number: GCD922002), has been long-awaited for reissue! Tomás Luis de Victoria (c.1548-1611) was not only the greatest Spanish composer of the Renaissance, but also one of the leading composers of church music in Europe. The complete edition of his masterpiece, "The Sacraments of Holy Week," was performed for three nights at the 43rd Cuenca Religious Music Week in April 2004 by "La Colombina," whose repertoire consisted mainly of Renaissance music, and "Schola Antiqua," a specialist in Gregorian chant. was performed over three nights. Published in Rome in 1585, this is the first recording of the work in its entirety in a liturgical context, and is a large work consisting of various pieces, including the Responsorium of Holy Week, the Lamentations of Jeremiah, and the Passion Song.
