Description:
A Spanish treasure sung by The Sixteen. Commemorating the 400th anniversary of Victoria’s death on “CORO”! Tomás Luis de Victoria (1548–1611), a great composer of the Spanish Renaissance. The second release in the 400th-anniversary commemorative series from Harry Christophers & The Sixteen’s independent label “CORO” is *The Victoria Collection*, a box set featuring The Sixteen’s finest interpretations of Victoria’s works! Recorded in 2005, this is one of “CORO’s” finest albums, featuring the masterpiece “Requiem (for 6 voices),” composed in 1603 to mourn the death of Empress Maria, as well as “Sacred Works Vol. 1–3,” a set by The Sixteen featuring a stellar lineup of renowned British early music singers—including Caroline Sampson, Andrew Carwood, Philip Cave, Caroline Trevor, and Patrick Craig—is undoubtedly one of the most important releases of the Victoria Year! The treasures of the Spanish Renaissance—"Victoria’s Music"—resound with the world’s finest harmonies! Tokyo M Plus
