Anna Lucia Richter Sings Brahms' Lieder! Renowned singer Anna Lucia Richter’s third release on the PENTATONE label is a collection of Brahms lieder, sung in the mezzo-soprano range! This album features 20 songs, ranging from love poems to German folk songs. Accompanied by Busakevich’s poetic piano playing, Richter’s elegant voice invites listeners into the twilight world of Brahms. Richter has a deep understanding of German art songs and has written the program notes herself. Richter began vocal training with her mother at the age of nine and became a member of the Cologne Cathedral Girls’ Choir. She later studied under Professor Kurt Widmer in Basel and continued her studies in Cologne. His major awards include second place in the junior division of the 2008 Berlin National Vocal Competition, the Luitpold Prize at the 2011 Kitzingen Summer Music Festival, and first prize at the 2012 International Robert Schumann Competition held in Zwickau. In October 2015, she appeared as a soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 during the London Symphony Orchestra’s tour of Japan, conducted by Bernard Haitink, showcasing her beautiful voice. On her albums released by the PENTATONE label—“Schubert: Songs” (PTC-5186839) and “Frenzy of Passion: A Monteverdi Album” (PTC-5186845)—she captivates listeners with her crystal-clear, luminous voice. Pianist Amiel Buszakiewicz was born in Jerusalem, Israel, and raised in South Africa. He has achieved outstanding results in numerous international competitions, including the Schubert International Piano Competition, and has since garnered attention as a young pianist active on the international stage.
