Their previous recording of Debussy (edited by Knott) and Schoenberg's "Pelléas et Mélisande" (KKC-6429/30 / PTC-5186782) received high acclaim, including a "Special Mention" in Record Geijutsu magazine. His highly anticipated new works are three masterpieces for piano and orchestra. The concertos are Ravel and Schoenberg's piano concertos and Messiaen's "Exotic Birds" with Francesco Piemontesi as solo pianist. Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major opens with a whiplash that is unexpected and compelling on its own. The elements borrowed from jazz, the small rhythms, and Ravel's sparkling melodies are the most appealing features of this piece. Schoenberg's Piano Concerto is a product of the American era and uses twelve-tone techniques.Although in single-movement form, the work is divided into four parts in terms of content: placed between two concertos, Messiaen's "Exotic Birds" is a calculated piece with Messiaen's unique acoustic effects. The solo piano part includes three small cadenzas and two large cadenzas. The small orchestra is also unique in that there are no strings at all, but many percussion instruments are added. The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, led by Knott, plays with Piemontage in a colorful performance! Francesco Piemontage (piano) was born in Switzerland in 1983. He has been trained by great pianists such as Alfredo Brendel, Cecile Ousset, and Alexis Weissenberg, and was awarded the third prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in 2007, which attracted much attention. She has performed with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and other conductors such as Sakari Oramo and Mikhail Pletnyov. He has received particular acclaim from Martha Argerich, and frequently performs at the Lugano Music Festival. She is one of the most promising pianists in the future.His debut disc on the PENTATONE label, "Schubert's Late Piano Sonatas" (KKC-6272/3 / PTC-5186742), was highly praised by Record Geijutsu magazine, the Yomiuri Shimbun, and the Mainichi Shimbun, which recommended it as a "specially selected disc.
