Justin Davis as Orfeo! La Nuova Musica, an up-and-coming classical music group led by David Bates, has made a live recording of Gluck's opera "Orfeo e Euridice". The soloists are among Britain's most talented, with Yestyn Davies as Orfeo, Sophie Bevan as Eurydice, and Rebecca Bottone as Amor. Based on the Greek myth of Orpheus visiting his deceased wife Eurydice in the underworld, Gluck composed "Orfeo e Eurydice" as an opera in three acts. In this performance, we performed the Vienna version of the opera as it was composed in 1762. This is Gluck's masterpiece and the first work in which he put his theory of opera reform into practice. The voices of the famous singers will reverberate through the church at St. John's Smith Square. King International
