Ian Bostridge, one of the world’s foremost lieder singers today. Schubert’s *The Beautiful Mill-Girl* features in his live series at Wigmore Hall! With his intellectual approach, versatile and beautiful voice, and delicate delivery, Ian Bostridge is the leading lieder singer of the 21st century. Schubert forms the core of his repertoire. While Bostridge has previously recorded Schubert’s major works in the studio, in recent years he has been releasing a series of live recordings. In particular, his Schubert art song recital series—released on Wigmore Hall’s in-house label—and his recording of *Winterreise* (KKC6106/PTC5186764), released on the PENTATONE label, have been widely acclaimed by music publications. His highly anticipated latest release features “The Beautiful Mill-Girl” from a live performance in April 2019. When it comes to Bostridge’s “The Beautiful Mill-Girl,” his recordings from October 1995 with Graham Johnson and December 2003 with Mitsuko Uchida are well known, but this live performance marks his long-awaited third recording of the piece. His collaborator on this recording is Saskia Giorgini. Giorgini is a talented young artist who won the 2016 International Mozart Competition. Violinist Salvatore Accardo has praised her highly, describing her as possessing “solid technique, a beautiful and moving tone, phrasing brimming with imagination, and pure musicality.” This performance of “The Beautiful Mill-Girl,” meticulously crafted by Bostridge and Giorgini, is a must-hear!
