Female cellist Weilerstein has signed an exclusive contract with PENTATONE label! The first release features the rich and beautifully sung Haydn and the meticulously played Schoenberg! Alisa Weilerstein is a female cellist who made her DECCA label debut in 2012 as Daniel Barenboim's treasured daughter. She attracted attention with her passionate playing of Elgar, and quickly became a world-famous performer. Since then, she has released a collection of unaccompanied cello works by Dvořák, Kodály, and others with Bělohlávek, and cello sonatas by Rachmaninov and Chopin, each release generating a great deal of interest, and all of her recordings have received high praise. She has signed an exclusive contract with the PENTATONE label, which is highly regarded for its high-quality recordings, and the first recordings on the label are Haydn and Schoenberg. It is said that Haydn composed six cello concertos in total, but due to loss, alleged forgery, etc., only two remain today.The score for No. 1, which is thought to have been composed between 1761 and 1765, was lost for a long time, but in 1961 a copy was found in Prague, and in 1962 it was revived and performed. Since then, it has become one of the essential cello concertos in the repertoire. Weilerstein sings this lively work with great elongation and rich expressiveness. On the other hand, No. 2 is a superb work with an elegant atmosphere that fully brings out the charm of the cello. As if enjoying Haydn's world, Weilerstein delivers a clear and powerful tone, and his generous bowing makes the music sound natural. Schoenberg's "Purified Night" was composed for string sextet in 1899, and this performance is an arrangement for string orchestra revised in 1943. It is a masterpiece that pursues the beautiful sound that is the charm of Schoenberg's early works. Born into a musical family, Weilerstein excelled in the field of chamber music as well, and this performance is a wonderful example of his rich musicality. The Trondheim Soloists, who also perform with Wylerstein, are known for their "Memories" series of releases on the Norwegian 2L label, and have experimented with a variety of musical arrangements for surround sound recordings.He also knows the acoustics of the Servieu Church where the recording was made, so this is a promising new recording.
