SACD hybrid disc. The "prologue" is a customary Baroque opera. The prologue is a character from mythology or a personification of anything and everything that does not appear in the main body of the opera, and leads the audience into the world of the story by performing a song that serves as a prelude to the main part of the opera that follows. This disc contains only the prologues of 17th century Baroque operas from Monteverdi to Scarlatti. The prologue characters on this disc range from easily recognizable characters such as "Venus" and "Cupid" to personifications of "music," "tragedy," and even "Rome" and "harmony. This CD is not a collection of excerpts, but a collection of mini operas with a unified atmosphere. The compositional direction is also very stylish, with Stradella's instrumental pieces interspersed throughout as "interludes between acts". The singer, Francesca Aspromonte, is an up-and-coming soprano who has performed at Carnegie Hall and other world-class concert halls and with famous conductors in her 20s.
