Andrés Orozco-Estrada, born in Medellín, Colombia in 1977, has been actively releasing works on the PENTATONE label. The second Dvořák release, recorded at his home base, Jones Hall, with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, of which he is currently the musical director, features Symphony No. 6 and two Slavonic Dances. Orozco-Estrada began his conducting studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 1997, and in 2004 he made a name for himself at the Musikverein in Vienna, where he conducted the Wiener Tonkünstlerorchester on short notice. He has been the Principal Conductor of the Vienna Tonekünstler Orchestra since 2004, the Principal Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra since 2014, and the Music Director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra since the 2015/16 season. In addition, he has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2015/16 season.Orozco-Estrada wows audiences with his lively performances, and his Dvorak with the Houston Symphony Orchestra is also passionate.
