This new recording by Payu is a valuable recording from a music historical point of view. This album focuses on the "French Revolution" period, and includes works by composers from the late Baroque to the Classical period, when many pieces were written for the flute. The four pieces were selected by Emmanuel Pajou as "the most innovative and beautifully melodic" among the flute works written for the French court and the Paris Conservatory, which was founded in 1795 after the Revolutionary War. Antonini, founder of the renowned old instrument ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, is backed this time by the Basel Chamber Orchestra, which is taking its time to record the complete Beethoven symphonies.The Basel Chamber Orchestra plays both ancient and modern instruments, and even in this performance, you will find an eclectic mix of instruments, a flexible response to Payu's expression and changes in style, and an interesting experience packed with brilliant period style.
