Ian Bostridge, a popular newcomer to the world of Lieder, is a tenor singer with an unusual background, having studied history and philosophy at Cambridge and Oxford before embarking on a career in music. Having been trained in singing by the great German singer Fischer-Diskau, Bostridge is highly regarded not only for his German lieder and English songs, but also for his bold, expressive, and innovative approach to ancient music and opera.
