Inspired by Painting, Bruce Wolosoff's "Blue Mantra"! Bruce Wolosoff, composer and pianist, describes the essence of his new album, "Blue Mantra," as an engagement in a diverse dialogue between music and visual art, blues and chamber music, and various moments in his own creative process. The title piece, "Blue Mantra," was inspired by the painting of the same name by artist and wife Margaret Garrett. Similarly, "Matisse Fantasie" was inspired by a charcoal drawing by the renowned French Impressionist artist Matisse. All three works are for clarinet, piano, and various strings. and piano, as well as various stringed instruments, and are full of bluesy lyricism.In addition to Bruce's outstanding pianism, the program also highlights the virtuosity of co-stars such as clarinetist Narek Arutyunian, violinists Deborah Buck and Michelle Ross, and cellist Clarice Jensen.
