A decade-long collaboration between two performers and composers! Christophe Croiset, born in 1993, is an internationally acclaimed Swiss cellist and composer who made his Carnegie Hall debut in New York at the age of 17. Daniel Schnieder is a composer and saxophonist. The collaboration between these two performers and composers has spanned a decade. The album features two concertos by Schnieder commissioned by Croiset, as well as the world premieres of a number of solo and chamber works. Croiset shines with his "Concerto for Cello, Percussion, and String Orchestra," while the Swiss duo both came to prominence with their "Concerto Populaire" for soprano saxophone, cello, percussion, and string orchestra. Both works are backed by members of the Beyond Modern Orchestra, carefully selected by Croiset. The Beyond Modern Orchestra is an ensemble dedicated to the creation and performance of new music.Croiset also performs with other performers with whom he is familiar, and his "Cello BLU" features a unique tone with harpsichord, while his "CUBAC" combines Cuban rhythms with Bach-style counterpoint.
