Description:
Music for one of the most legendary violins, the "Lipinski"! This is the third release in a series of CDs (Vol. 1: AV2279, Vol. 2: AV2363) featuring various works related to the "Lipinski," one of the most legendary violins made by Antonio Stradivari in 1715. Stradivari, named after the famous Polish violinist Karol Lipinski (1790-1861), also known as Paganini's rival, has passed through the hands of Giuseppe Tartini, Carlo Lipinski, the Lentchen family, Evi Levak, and now the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. It has been passed down to Frank Almond, concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. The instrument became famous after the release of the first CD, when it was robbed by armed robbers (it was later miraculously found and recovered by FBI pursuit, and this incident was later made into a movie).Featured in this work is the piano trio by 19th century Swedish female composer Amanda Lentchen-Meier (1853-1894), whose masterpiece is linked to the legendary instrument through her father-in-law, Engelbert Lentchen.
