Nicholas McGegan has been the Music Director of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra for many years (he is currently the Music Director Laureate) and is known as an expert on Baroque music. The Cantata Collective, founded by the principal players and soloists of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra under his direction, now presents J.S. Bach's "John Passion". This album is the Cantata Collective's first recording for the Avie label, and we look forward to their next and subsequent releases. Conductor Nicholas McGegan is the music director of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, as well as the major orchestras of the United States, including Cleveland, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, and Hong Kong, Sydney, and the Royal Concertgebouw. He has performed with the world's major orchestras, including Hong Kong, Sydney, and the Royal Concertgebouw. He has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contributions to music abroad.
