Homage to Ida Haendel, "La Follia" by Sebastian Bohlen! With Stringendo Zurich, a group of young musicians, and the Charts Chamber Artists, a Swiss soloist and string quartet! Sebastian Bohlen's latest album, La Follia, is a tribute to his idol, violinist Ida Handel. From an early age, he admired violinists who played the Baroque repertoire in a romantic way, and studied with the leading Ukrainian violinist Natan Mirshteyn, who was a student of his. Then, inspired by Ida Haendel, I watched a YouTube video of her playing Corelli's "La Follia". Fascinated by the excellence of the performance, Bohlen decided to create a concept album that reflected "La Follia," which has fascinated composers over the centuries, including Vitali and Tartini, as well as Respighi and Kreisler. On this album he uses two instruments, a 1710 Stradivarius "King George" and a 1761 Guadagnini.Born in Switzerland in 1987, Sebastian Bohlen studied with Zakhar Bron, Giuliano Carmignola, and Dmitry Sitkovetsky. He is a promising young and talented violinist whose playing technique, trained by master teachers, is superb. Tokyo M-Plus
