James Lee III's Orchestral Works!Born in 1975, American composer James Lee III studied with William Bolcom, Michael Doherty, and Sheng Zong Liang, and received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 2005. 2002. He also studied with Michael Gandolfi and Stephen McKay as a scholarship student at the Tanglewood Music Center. His works have been commissioned and premiered by many orchestras in the United States and elsewhere, including the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, and Philadelphia Orchestra. They have been conducted by Leonard Slatkin, Michael Tilson Thomas, Juanjo Mena, and Marin Allsopp. On this album, Marin Allsopp, who will serve as principal conductor of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra beginning in 2019, colorfully portrays the extremely creative world of James Lee III.
