The Cremona String Quartet, founded in 2000 in Cremona, is one of Italy's leading international ensembles. Their 14th album, "Italian Postcards", celebrating their 20th anniversary, is now available for the first time on Avie in the UK! Italian Postcards" is a tasteful program of works not by Italian composers, but by four composers from different countries who wrote with Italy in mind. The young Mozart wrote this string quartet in the town of Lodi (Lodi) during his first trip to Italy. Wolff's famous "Serenade in Italian Style," inspired by ancient Italian poetry and melodies. Tchaikovsky's masterpiece "Memories of Florence," written in Florence, will be presented with the splendid guests Ori Kam of the Jerusalem String Quartet and Eckart Runge, formerly of the Artemis String Quartet.Cieli d'Italia (Italian Sky) by Israeli-born contemporary composer Nimrod Borenstein (b.1969) is a work specially commissioned and written for this album.
