American female violinist Rachel Barton Pine has been active in her own genre-defying field, from baroque to heavy metal, since her recovery from a serious train accident in 1995. Barton Pine has recorded a repertoire of violin greats including Mozart, Bach, Paganini, and Elgar & Bruch, and her fifth AVIE recording, which has topped the Billboard charts, features Dvořák from the Czech Republic and Khachaturian from Armenia. Barton Pine's gorgeous violin plays the dense and refined violin concertos in which the great composers of Eastern Europe sublimate traditional music into a lofty art form. The prestigious Royal Scottish National Orchestra will be conducted by Teddy Abrams, a young conductor born in the United States in 1987, who is the music director of the Louisville Orchestra and the Brit Music Festival.
