Russian female pianist Katya Apekisheva and British pianist Charles Owen, both professors of piano at the Guildhall School of Music, founded and served as artistic directors of the new London Piano Festival in 2016. In 2016, they founded and served as artistic directors of the new London Piano Festival, and are also an outstanding piano duo. The duo has appeared as a duo on the popular BBC TV program "The Andrew Marr Show" and have recorded a Stravinsky album (QTZ2117) for the Quartz label in the UK. The first Avie release by the duo of Owen & Apekisheva features Rachmaninoff's Suites No. 1 & No. 2 for 2 pianos and 6 pieces for 4-handed duet.
