Antonio Meneses, the king of the cello, who had earned the complete trust of Karajan, finally performs Beethoven's long-awaited Beethoven with his friend Pressler. The long-awaited Beethoven finally appears as a duo with his close friend Pressler! Beginning with a new recording of Bach's "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello" (AV0052) on Avie, Meneses has released a series of stunning recordings, including Schumann & Schubert (AV2112) and Mendelssohn (AV2140). Meneses had been searching for the best time and environment to record Beethoven's cello works, but decided to record them with Menahem Pressler, the 83-year-old veteran and founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio, of which Meneses is currently a cellist.Meneses' longtime dream of recording the complete Beethoven cello sonatas has finally come to fruition! Meneses and Pressler have been performing together in the Beaux Arts Trio, which was sadly announced to be dissolved in September 2008, and there is no doubt about their combination. The Brazilian-born cellist prodigy, who was recognized by Karajan, the king of the 21st century, has put his whole heart and soul into this wonderful Beethoven performance.
