Meyerbeer's great work, "The Oracle," a beautiful aria in a powerful and exciting orchestral rage! Meyerbeer's "The Oracle". The plot revolves around the three main characters (male innkeeper Jean, his lover Berthe, and Jean's mother Fidesse). Jean and Bert are about to be married, but are thwarted when Count Aubertal takes a shine to Bert. Surprised by Jean's resemblance to King David in the Munster Altarpiece, the pilgrim preachers of another religion, the Anabaptists, beg Jean to join them in the same faith and even become their leader (prophet). Jean accepts and becomes the new emperor. Bert is shocked that the new emperor is Jean and commits suicide. In the end, Fidesz (Jean's mother) dies with Jean in the palace, which is engulfed in flames. This is a very extravagant opera that includes a magnificent orchestration requiring an organ, four harps, numerous wind instruments, and beautiful arias, and even a ballet.The march in the scene of Jean's coronation is one of the most famous parts of the opera, and the LSO's performance is a masterpiece. The music of "Les patineurs" danced by dancers wearing roller skates is also the ultimate in elegance.
