The London Symphony Orchestra's proud string section has been a signature of the prestigious orchestra, which celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2014, and has shown no signs of slowing down. For example, with Colin Davis, the LSO has been known for its sublime and profoundly expressive Elgar and transparent and clear Sibelius, and with Gergiev, its unique programs of Prokofiev and Szymanowski, which continue to fascinate music fans around the world. The LSO String Ensemble has recently made its proud debut on LSO Live.This live recording of the first half of the concert at the Barbican in October 2013 is the ultimate combination of Tchaikovsky, a treasure trove of beautiful and accessible melodies, and Bartok, whose solid sound tests the precision of the ensemble.
