A reissue of GusTill’s little-known trance gem—an artist who began his career in Melbourne’s post-punk/new wave scene and has spanned genres from ambient to downtempo, house, trance, and psychedelic for over 40 years! Includes a remix by Kuniyuki!!! From SecondCircle, a sub-label of MusicFromMemory!!! "Rainsong" was originally included on the 2006 compilation *TribalMatrix*, released by DakiniRecords—a Japanese ambient/trance/downtempo label featuring Makyo. Spanning 12 minutes, this track weaves together dynamic live percussion, pulsating basslines, and ethereal vocals to create a piece of trance music that acts as a “red pill,” dissolving the boundary between body and mind on the dance floor. Its hypnotic progression, which slowly builds a sense of euphoria, and its rich sonic space are likely to be truly appreciated today—precisely because we are in an era where the genre-less spirit of the early ’90s is being reevaluated. The B-side features a new remix by Kuniyuki Takahashi, the undisputed treasure of the North who needs no introduction. The MFM crew has done a fantastic job—they’re the perfect talent for reinterpreting the original. Through delicate spatial processing, a gradual build-up, and beautifully polished textures, they preserve the spiritual worldview of the original track while seamlessly blending dub and ambient into a deep, immersive sound—a masterpiece!!!!
