I can say that "Orange Crate Art" is one of the highlights of my life. In 1966, when Brian Wilson began to conceive the follow-up to his masterpiece "PET SOUNDS," he turned to Mississippi-born Van Dyke Parks to help him create what would become his next masterpiece, "Orange Crate Art. Van Dyke Parks as lyricist for "SMiLE," which was to be the next Beach Boys' work.As history will tell you, "SMiLE" remained a work of art until its official release as a Grammy-winning box set in 2012, and is considered one of the most famous unreleased albums in rock history. The original vision for SMiLE was to incorporate elements of American music into an avant-garde style that was ahead of anything that existed at the time. As "SMiLE" gained a reputation as a legendary visionary work, Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks went their separate ways, except for teaming up again in 1972 on the Beach Boys classic "Sail On Sailor. So it must have been with the greatest of excitement and mixed feelings when the two musical giants stumbled upon each other again in 1994 to finish up their unfinished work. But this time, the two completed a masterful piece of work, a masterpiece that evokes the land of California.Now, on the 25th anniversary of the release of that miraculous masterpiece "ORANGE CRATE ART", a special edition of this work will be released!
