≪The 230th anniversary of the first performance of "Don Giovanni"! Domingo produced and conducted this historic performance at the same theater on the same day as the premiere, and it is now available on DVD! Placido Domingo, who became one of the "Three Great Tenors" and switched from tenor to baritone a few years ago, is still expanding his repertoire even after turning 75 in 2016. Mozart's masterpiece opera "Don Giovanni" was premiered on October 29, 1787 at the Theatre of Estates in Prague under Mozart's own direction. This recording is a commemorative performance of "Don Giovanni" at the same place on the same day as the first performance, 230 years after the first performance. The production is a reconstruction by Czech opera star Izy Nekvasil based on the legendary 1969 Prague State Opera stage production, directed by Václav Kashliuk and stage-managed by Josef Svoboda, the proud Czech stage designer. Costumes are by Theodor Pishtek (Pistek), who also created the costumes for the film Amadeus.The singers are Irina Lung, Dmitry Kolchak, Simone Alberghini, and Julia Novikova, all of whom have proven themselves in the "International Operalia Competition" established by Domingo in 1993, and other first-class Czech singers whose abilities have been recognized by Domingo.
