This is a live performance by master Zubin Mehta, who appeared in his old home in Bavaria just before his 80th birthday. The performance attracted a lot of attention even before the performance because it was Mehta's first time to perform "The Masked Ball". The singers' highlight was Anja Halteros, who was making her debut as Amelia. She stands out for her beautiful, clean voice, deep expressiveness, and intelligent beauty. And as Riccardo, lyric tenor Piotr Becheva sings brilliantly. The cast includes Georges Petéan, who specializes in Italian opera, and the richly-voiced Ocka von Damrau. Johannes Ehlert, who has worked as assistant to Willi Decker, Nicholas Brieger, Guy Joosten, and Peter Konwitschny, will direct "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Saxon State Opera in the 2014/15 season.The production has been steadily building its directorial career, including an invitation to the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland in July 2015.
