Description:

The ultimate in maturity! Nucci's Macbeth! Macbeth," which brought Parma to a roar, is now on vivid film! With Japanese subtitles ★ "Macbeth", based on Shakespeare's famous play, was first performed in Florence in 1847, and then greatly revised for Paris in 1865, becoming a unique masterpiece combining the roughness of Verdi in his 30s with the accomplished writing of Verdi in his 50s. Naturally, strong singers are required for Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. For this Verdi Festspiele production, Macbeth was performed by the veteran Nucci. Nucci's voice, 64 years old at the time, was as brilliant, powerful, and beautiful as ever. Nucci, who has long excelled in Macbeth, sings a song that can be called the culmination of his career. Lady Macbeth is sung by French dramatic soprano Sylvie Vallery. She is a well-known soprano in Japan as she has visited Japan many times.Although she does not give the impression of being a Verdi soprano because her repertoire is quite broad, she is in fact so good at it that she has 12 roles in Verdi's operas. Among them, Lady Macbeth is a hit, and with her beautiful figure, she has a strong and attractive atmosphere of a magical woman. Banco's Enrico Iori is a local Parma bass. He has been working extensively since around 2000 as a gem of an Italian bass. Roberto Iuliano of Macduff is a tenor from Milan. He was a light tenor with a beautiful voice, but in recent years he has gained dignity, and this Macduff was greatly praised. The conductor was Bruno Bartoletti, a veteran of 80 years at the time. He gives us a hardcore Verdi performance. At first glance, the direction by Liana Cavani, the famous director of the films "The Storm of Love" and "Lou Salome: The Shore of Good and Evil," was traditional. However, upon closer inspection, the multi-layered structure of "Macbeth," as if it were being performed in an Elizabeth I-era theater, brings to the fore the social accuracy of the work, which has been passed down from Shakespeare's original. Pleasing Japanese subtitles are included. *Please note that the libretto lists the recording dates as October 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, and 17, 2006, but according to the performance records of the Teatro Regio di Parma, the Verdi Festivals for that year were held on June 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, and 17, and "Macbeth" was performed in Parma in October. There is no performance of "Macbeth" in Parma in October. Therefore, this video is considered to be the same as the one recorded in June and previously released on DVD by another company.
