Description:
Thielemann & Staatskapelle Dresden Live in February 2011, Liszt 200th Anniversary Concert "Faust" Program by Liszt & Wagner Christian Thielemann, who will assume the position of Chief Conductor starting next season in 2012, conducted the Staatskapelle Dresden Thielemann will conduct the Staatskapelle Dresden in a live video performance of Liszt's "Faust Symphony" and Wagner's overture "Faust," which he will perform as principal conductor beginning next season. Almost a year after Beethoven's "Solemn Mass," the "Liszt Bicentennial Concert" was held at the Semperoper on February 21 and 22, 2011. Wagner's overture and Liszt's symphony share the common theme of Goethe's book "Faust," which is said to be the greatest source of inspiration among all literary works.Wagner's overture "Faust" was originally abandoned as a symphony, and was revived by Liszt after its premiere in a state of oblivion. Liszt's "Faust Symphony" was written after reading Goethe's "Faust" at the suggestion of Berlioz, and was composed during a period of mutual influence with Wagner. Wagner, who conducted the premiere of the overture "Faust" when he was Kapellmeister of the Elector's Court Orchestra of Saxony, and Liszt, who eventually conducted the premiere of his great work "Dante Symphony" at the Royal Court Theater of Saxony along with "Faust Symphony". This commemorative concert is designed to highlight these close connections, and Thielemann, the star of the concert, is also an essential part of the program.Thielemann, who has excelled in numerous operas such as "The Ring," "Tristan," and "Parsifal," is now considered the foremost "Wagner conductor," and his presence at Bayreuth and in Vienna cannot be mentioned without his presence. In this sense, there are high expectations for the "Faust Symphony" to be performed by Liszt, who, like Wagner, was a maverick conductor in his Weimar days. Prior to the concert, Thielemann confessed that he was surprised that Liszt was so rarely performed, but after the concert, a review entitled "New Light on Franz Liszt in Dresden" (Die Welt) appeared in the paper and was greeted with the greatest of praise. The concert was greeted with the greatest of praise. Finally, in 2013, Thielemann will take over as artistic director of the Salzburg Easter Festival and will lead the Staatskapelle Dresden to perform at the festival. The February 2011 recording of "Faust Program" is a rare opportunity to witness the band in action as they have been strengthening their presence in the music world at an exceptionally rapid pace.
