A gifted artist who has practiced country (folk) rock as his own way of expressing rock with the International Submarine Band, the Byrds, and the Flying Burrito Brothers. His shocking debut album, which he released after working with a number of groups, has been revived on 180 gram analog LP record. Born in 1946, Gramm was influenced by Presley as a child and picked up the guitar. He was eventually influenced by the folk boom and formed the legendary International Submarine Band around the time he dropped out of Harvard University. This group became legendary as one of the earliest groups to play country rock. Chris Hillman of the Byrds, who fell in love with his talent, asked him to join the Byrds, and they produced "Rodeo Lovers" in 1968. The two then formed the Flying Barrito Brothers. After leaving this group in 1970, Gramm traveled Europe, taking in and absorbing a variety of influences. At this time, he became friends with the Stones, among others, and the two groups have had a profound influence on each other. The Stones' "Wild Horses" is a classic song dedicated to Gramm. This second album, credited "With Emmylou Harris," features a collaboration with country-folk diva Emmylou Harris.It is truly a message to all music fans, transcending the boundaries between country, folk, and rock. The album includes "Brass Buttons," which Poco also featured on his album "Crazy Eyes," and "Hickory Wind," which Bernie Leadon, who was with the Eagles, is said to have written "My Man" based on this song.
