We invite you to a world of ecstasy created by Dominique Hervieux and José Montalvo, two of today’s greatest choreographers. The theme is the story of Orpheus from Greek mythology. Born to Oiagros, King of Thrace, and Calliope—one of the Muses (though it is also said his father was Apollo)—he displayed musical talent from an early age, and his lyre had the power to calm all. His lover was Eurydice, and the story of his journey into the underworld after her death is well known. In this production, nine dancers and seven musicians bring to life the inspiration drawn from the many myths surrounding Orpheus. The music used is diverse and dazzling, ranging from Renaissance melodies to hip-hop. Making full use of visual technology, the production is a dazzling spectacle, ranging from dynamic movements—including performers on stilts—to vivid stop-motion sequences and even breakdancing.
