A 1993 album gets a CD reissue! Of Native American descent, he began his career in country music. He eventually became fascinated with rockabilly and “invented” his own rock ’n’ roll guitar style—including the development of power chords—and in the 1950s, made a name for himself with banned songs like “RUMBLE.” This is FRED LINCOLN “LINK” WRAY, Jr., better known as LINKWRAY. After a period of obscurity in the ’60s and early ’70s, he was reevaluated as a pioneer of punk rock and hard rock. He made a spectacular comeback to the scene in the late ’70s, but upon entering the ’80s, he met OLIVE, a Danish student researching Native American culture, and married her—his fourth marriage—spending the rest of his life in Denmark. This album is a hidden gem from the ’90s, recorded during that period with Danish musicians. Backed by members of the renowned band SHAKYGROUND—known for their work with Danish R&B/soul star HENNING STAERK—as well as percussionist FLEMMING NILSSON and keyboardist Kim Hyttel, among others, and he sings about his roots with a distinctive, understated style that resonates with the alternative music of the era. Incidentally, the cool album cover photo was taken by his beloved wife, Olive Ray.
