The only studio recording of Verdi's opera "The Battle of Legnano" is said to have been made in the 1970s under the direction of Lamberto Gardelli, but this live recording from La Scala in 1961, made before that, was widely circulated and highly acclaimed in the 1980s and 1990s. The recording of the 1961 live performance at La Scala was widely distributed and highly acclaimed in the 1980s and 1990s. This rare recording, which has long been difficult to obtain, has now been reissued with the natural sound of the original recording, thanks to a new equalization of the sound source.
