Fabio Luisi is the newest addition to the MAGGIO LIVE label; as of 2017, Fabio Luisi is General Music Director of the Zurich Opera, Chief Conductor of the Metropolitan Opera, and Chief Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Luisi and the Florence May Festival Opera first collaborated on "Simon Boccanegra" in 1994, followed by a recording of "Alordo" in 1997 and "Rigoletto" in 2003. He has also given orchestral performances, and this album contains recordings from 2011 and 2017. Brahms' Symphony No. 4 is a work that matches Fabio Luisi's aesthetic, beautifully enlivened with passion but with neat control. Luisi also featured this piece in the NHK Symphony Orchestra's subscription concert in April 2017. Andrea Luchesini, who plays piano in the Choral Fantasy, is a student of Maria Tipo, a pianist who won the Dino Ciani International Piano Competition in his teens, has a wide repertoire, and was in close contact with composer Luciano Berio.
