TelefonTelAviv’s 2001 masterpiece of 2000s electronica and IDM, *FahrenheitFairEnough*, is being reissued on vinyl to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its release! In the late 1990s, the American underground electronic music scene was entering an exceptionally vibrant period. Artists scattered across the United States were beginning to participate in a new phase of the musical dialogue that had been ongoing across the Atlantic for decades. At the intersection of hip-hop, electronic, and soul, they were forging their own path. In September 2001, Telefon Tel Aviv—composed of New Orleans natives and high school friends Joshua Eustis and the late Charles Cooper—joined that dialogue with the release of their debut album, *Fahrenheit Fair Enough*, on Hefty Records. Speaking today about this lovingly crafted album, Eustis says, “We wanted to present something meaningful—a work that was distinctly American, with a bit of a Southern flavor.” In 2016, marking the album’s 15th anniversary, Ghostly International reissued *Fahrenheit Fair Enough* on vinyl, accompanied by digital bonus tracks. While living in New Orleans in the late 1990s, Eustis and Cooper were strongly drawn to two musical currents. One was classic American music such as New Orleans bounce, Detroit techno, and Chicago house. The other was British electronica, represented by artists such as Autechre, Aphex Twin, and Jega. This album was recorded over the course of about a year in Eustis’s childhood bedroom at his family home in the Riverbend neighborhood of New Orleans.
