Swedish melodic black metal band NAGLFAR’s fifth full-length album, originally released in 2007, has been reissued by BACKONBLACK. This album is known for fusing the raw, aggressive intensity of early black metal with the melodic death metal elements that became more prominent in the band’s later work. Built on a foundation of sharp tremolo riffs and high-speed blast beats, the band incorporates lyrical guitar melodies and dramatic song structures to create a sound where intensity and melodic beauty coexist. Ice-cold guitar harmonies, heavy rhythms, and Kristoffer Olivius’s hate-filled vocals strongly convey the band’s distinctive dark worldview. The album was produced in 2006, with guitars and vocals recorded at Wolf’s Lair Studios and drums at Toontrack Studios. The entire work exudes a majestic atmosphere that fuses the raw chill of black metal with Nordic melodies, and it is regarded as one of NAGLFAR’s masterpieces. It combines the band’s early aggression with mature compositional skills and is regarded as an album that encapsulates the essence of Swedish melodic black metal.
