This is the second installment of CAM SUGAR's Heritage Series, a collection dedicated to the great classics of Italian cinema. Following the first volume's expanded reissue of Nino Rota's "Amarcordo," this time it is the soundtrack to "Profumo di Donna," one of the most internationally acclaimed Italian films of all time. Directed by Dino Risi and based on the novel "Il Buio e il Miele" by Giovanni Arpino, the film was presented at the 1975 Cannes Film Festival, where Vittorio Gassman won the Best Actor award for his leading role. The following year, "Scent of a Woman" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Screenplay, and received international recognition. The film's perennial success led to the filming of a Hollywood remake of "Scent of a Woman/Scent of a Dream" starring Al Pacino in the 1990s, for which Al Pacino won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1993.The music composed by Armando Trovajoli for this film is a masterpiece of dramatic music composition, combining his passion for jazz (Those Lazy Days) with a unique melancholic and moving theme (In the Dark) brilliantly arranged for big orchestra. It is a masterpiece of dramatic music composition. The soundtrack, however, is also a masterpiece of easy listening, folk, jazz-funk, and even a disco-style approach with a track (Woman's Parfume) that could be considered part of Barry White's catalog! A standout is the hit "Che Vuole Questa Musica Stasera," an exquisitely charming, moving, and decadent ballad interpreted by Peppino Gagliardi and already re-proposed by Guy Ritchie in his film The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015). (In Japan, Hiroshi used this song and it took the world by storm!) Completely restored and remastered from the original master tapes, this album is released in an LP version with previously unreleased tracks and a CD version with 8 previously unreleased tracks.
