Description:
The master musician Maximiliano Martín, 2nd solo recording project on the Delphian label! A collection of instrumental works mainly by French composers! Maximiliano Martín Martín, a clarinetist from Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain, presents his second solo recording project for the Delphian label. In the first release, Maximiliano Martín released a collection of concertos (DCD34250) with an orchestra from his home island of Tenerife, which was well received. This release features instrumental works mainly by French composers. Maximiliano Martín has been principal of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for many years and has also appeared as guest principal with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, working with conductors such as Abbado, Haitink, Colin Davis He has performed with conductors such as Abbado, Haitink, and Colin Davis. As a chamber musician, he is a member of the London Concord Ensemble. In addition to works by French composers, the program on this album includes works by Edward McGuire from Scotland and Gustavo Trujillo from Tenerife. Gustavo Trujillo, who made a splash with his arrangement of Bach's "Goltberg Variations" for chorus and old music ensemble (COBRA0050), has a deep personal connection with Maximiliano Martín, who hails from the same village in Tenerife as Trujillo. Trujillo's Clarinet Concerto No. 1, "Travesia," was written for Martín. The world premiere recording of "Souvenir" was completed in 2021 using material from that concerto, including famous folk songs from the Canary Islands. Tokyo M-Plus
