Ambitious program from Renaissance to contemporary music!A talented quartet formed in 2011 is now available!Selected as the 2019 "Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist of the Year"! The Castalian String Quartet, named after the Castalian Fountain, which is said to have existed in the ancient Greek city of Delphi, was founded in 2011. The quartet studied under Oliver Ville, violinist of the Kuss Quartet at the Hanover University of Music and Drama, and won first prize at the 2015 Lyon Chamber Music Competition and third prize at the 2016 Banff International String Quartet Competition. He was also influenced by Simon Rowland-Jones, David Waterman, and Isabelle Callisius, among others, and was named "Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist of the Year" in 2019. He has been selected as the "Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist of the Year" in 2019.For this program, the quartet has chosen works by composers from different periods, including Renaissance, classical, and contemporary, and they play these works extremely effectively, demonstrating their technical prowess and wide repertoire.
