Featuring Rachel Podger’s Brecon Baroque, as well as Florilegium, Arcangelo, the Ancient Chamber Orchestra, the EU Baroque Orchestra—set against the backdrop of the Adriatic Sea, a region surrounded by the Italian and Balkan peninsulas where and where extensive cultural exchange took place. It features an outstanding program combining sacred and secular works by Croatian and Italian composers active in 17th-century Dalmatia (the Adriatic coastal region of Croatia, then part of the Republic of Venice). This program explores rare Croatian works from the early Baroque period through the exquisite vocals of the Marian Consort—led by countertenor Laurie McLeery, who has built an outstanding reputation as both a scholar and conductor—and the meticulous ensemble playing of the Illyria Consort.
