The album features Italian violin virtuoso Salvatore Accardo playing Kreisler's brilliant repertoire on Stradivari's 1715 "Il Cremonese" instrument. This album has been out of print and hard to find for some time, but now it is being reissued in Japan with a new Japanese commentary. The Stradivarius featured on this album is one of the most famous made during Antonio Stradivari's golden age. It was one of several Stradivarius in Joseph Joachim's collection, and was previously given names such as "Joseph Joachim" (there are several other Stradivarius called "Joachim"), but later passed to his nephew Harold, Robert Brandt, Hill After being transferred and sold to the Collection and others, it was purchased by the Cremona Tourist Board in 1961.About 250 years later, it returned to its birthplace, Cremona, and was named "Il Cremonese," a famous vessel that has become one of the symbols of the town of Cremona.
