Alto Sarah Mingard The Long-Awaited German Lieder! Sarah Mingard (b. 1961) is an Italian-born alto (also known as a contralto). She began her career in the 1980s and has been active primarily in Italian opera, though she is also highly regarded for her performances in Mozart and Bizet’s *Carmen*. This album, a rare collection of German lieder for her, features a program with the deep, rich flavor of aged silver: songs from Brahms’s late period and Mahler’s *Lieder auf Gedichte von Ruckert*.
