UK electronic music maestro Mark Pritchard releases his latest EP—featuring six dance tracks—on 12-inch vinyl!! From his collaboration with Thom Yorke to the legendary project that made headlines once again with the release of reissues, and Global Communication—master producer Mark Pritchard, who has created electronic music in every conceivable style through these and numerous other projects, has released the EP *MPProductions-EP1*, featuring six dance tracks, on 12-inch vinyl via *WARP*. Most of the tracks on this EP were first played during WXAXRXP’s NTS mix in 2019 and were produced in a style that incorporates various genres such as grime, dancehall, electro, and techno. “BeLikeWater” is a thrilling instrumental grime track designed for the dance floor, evoking the energy-filled grime scene of the early 2000s. The following track, “Rakatak,” was produced using samples from ethnomusicologist David Funsho’s archive, and the track as a whole draws inspiration from the 1990s album *African Sanctus*, recorded in 1972. The third track, “JisFor____,” is a Chicago house-inspired track where telephone keypad sounds and percussion intertwine, creating a track brimming with raw energy. And the eye-catching “LFOSpecial” was produced in a hotel on the night of the Warp20 party held in Sheffield, featuring performances by Squarepusher, Nightmares on Wax, and Forgemasters. Wanting to create a track that symbolized that night, he produced “LFOSpecial” to express just how much he loves the label and its music. It’s a killer track that incorporates dancehall elements over the iconic “LFO” refrain from the original. The following track, “OneWayMirror,” was inspired by Shoshana Zuboff’s book *The Age of Surveillance Capitalism*. “In My Heart,” which closes out the EP, was created with the intention of allowing listeners to experience the euphoria of techno in this era of closed clubs and curfews after 10 p.m. The artwork was created by Jonathan Zawada, who garnered attention for his solo exhibition at CALM & PUNK GALLERY here in Japan. It depicts a dystopian intersection between electronic music and machine learning; reportedly, he used AI software to create the image of a man wearing a vinyl-wrapped suit.
