Dedicated to a late friend—with whom he shared his youth at raves and other venues even before embarking on his professional career, and who recently passed away suddenly—this album was once again produced using analog equipment. It features nine tracks that build upon the early ’90s Squarepusher sound, expanding it even further through his ever-evolving career. The euphoric opener “Oberlove”—which sounds like happy hardcore pitched down—strikes a chord, followed by “Hitsonu,” where high-speed acid kicks in; “Vortrack,” the lead single whose malevolent pulses shatter your prefrontal cortex; and “80Ondula”—the closing track that hurls you from hardcore jungle tracks like “Nervelevers” and “TerminalSlam” (which will delight fans) into an abyssal finale—this album masterfully intertwines machine music that pursues the intensity and madness unique to hardware with personal storytelling. featuring the familiar logo on the cover—a return to the design first seen on *DoYouKnowSquarepusher* (2002).
