Antonio Pio (1753–1795) was an 18th-century Italian musician born in Ferrara, Italy, who studied music under Pasquale Amfossi at the Conservatory of St. Onofrio in Naples. Pio’s oratorio *Jonata* (1779), whose score was preserved in the archives of the Ravenna Museum, is a little-known work of the Italian Classical period. The compositional techniques inherited from his teacher—who was the most famous opera composer in 18th-century Italy—are evident in *Jonata*. Live recording from December 2010. Tokyo M-Plus
