Respighi arrangement "4 hands piano version"! Pines & Fountains of Rome, old-fashioned dances and arias! Tactus, a long-established label from Bologna, Italy that has introduced a wide variety of Italian music to the world, presents a collection of works for 4-handed piano by Ottorino Respighi." This is a four-hand piano version of two of Respighi's most famous orchestral works, the "Roman Trilogy" and the first and second suites of the "Old Dances and Arias for Lute", arranged by Respighi himself, who was also an excellent pianist and soloist in his own piano concerto works. At the time, it was customary to publish solo piano and four-hand piano versions, but Respighi wrote his own four-hand version and proposed it to publishers, as opposed to the usual requests from publishers. Respighi carefully arranged these pieces, which were known for their excellent orchestration, and showed great taste. The result is not a mere "simplification," but a brilliant arrangement that clearly reveals the chords, melodic structure, complex passages, and the core of the compositional ideas.Performing Respighi's luminous orchestrations on delicate piano continuo will be Gabriele Balducci, who is a professor at Trinity College of Music in London, an ambassador for the Lugano Music Festival, and often performs in duo with Martha Argerich, and Francesco Calamietti, who has recorded albums including Zgambati (a complete seven volume collection of piano works and Piano Concerto) and Martucci (two volumes of piano works and two volumes of piano concertos), and Francesco Caramiero, who is known for his discovery of Italian music.
